JEE Main photo & signature requirements

On JEE Main forms, National Testing Agency (NTA) usually accepts JPEG/JPG only. Target 10–200 KB for the photo and 4–30 KB for the signature; photo dimensions are often 200 × 230 px. Re-check the active PDF on nta.ac.in before you pay the fee.

Photo tips for JEE Main

  • SSC's ssc.gov.in portal shows a live file-size readout — compress to the middle of the allowed KB band so a re-save does not push you over the max.
  • Use a plain white or light-coloured background; SSC sample images show ears visible and no cap or sunglasses.
  • NTA exams (JEE, NEET, CUET, UGC NET, CSIR NET) use nta.ac.in with strict live photo capture rules in some cycles — if the notice allows upload, match the sample aspect ratio exactly.
  • JEE Main Session 1/2 forms on jeemain.nta.ac.in — follow NTA image rules; avoid caps and sunglasses in the sample match.

Signature tips

  • Sign on white A4 paper with black or blue ballpoint pen, scan flat without notebook lines, then compress to the signature KB cap.

How to resize for JEE Main

  1. Open the active SSC notification PDF and note photo/signature KB (and pixel size if listed).
  2. Capture a recent colour passport photo in daylight; avoid beauty filters that change facial features.
  3. Compress photo and signature separately in the tool above, staying inside the published min–max KB range.
  4. Upload to the SSC registration module and check the on-screen preview before final submission.
  5. Keep the same files for document verification — SSC often compares live appearance with the uploaded photo.
  6. If the portal rejects the file, fine-tune using the general Sarkari Photo Resizer.

Common mistakes on JEE Main forms

  • NTA sometimes rejects photos with busy backgrounds or multiple faces — use a plain wall behind you.
  • For NET exams, signature KB minimum can be as low as 4 KB — avoid over-compression that makes the sign unreadable.
