Clean cookware, sanitized utensils, organized storage areas, correctly handled chemicals, and dependable dishwashing processes directly influence food safety, service speed, and kitchen productivity.

Working behind the scenes across kitchen and food service areas, the role requires constant coordination with culinary colleagues. During busy periods, the Steward must respond quickly to changing

requirements while maintaining sanitation standards and preventing shortages of clean operational equipment. Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain high standards of cleanliness throughout kitchens, dishwashing stations, storage areas, and related back-of-house spaces. Wash, sanitize, dry, and correctly store plates, glassware, cutlery, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Operate industrial dishwashing equipment safely and according to established procedures.

Ensure cleaned items are inspected before being returned to operational storage or food service areas. Follow HACCP

requirements and established food safety procedures throughout each shift. Apply correct sanitation methods to reduce contamination risks within food preparation and service environments. Complete scheduled daily cleaning routines and periodic deep-cleaning assignments. Maintain floors, walls, work surfaces, sinks, drains, equipment areas, and other designated kitchen zones in hygienic condition.

Handle cleaning chemicals according to safety instructions and approved dilution or application procedures. Store chemicals separately and securely to prevent contamination and unsafe handling. Monitor cleaning materials, detergents, sanitation products, and other stewarding supplies. Inform supervisors when stock levels are approaching minimum

requirements. Support inventory checks for stewarding equipment and operating supplies. Record or report breakages, losses, damaged equipment, and missing items according to hotel procedures. Coordinate with chefs and food service colleagues to anticipate

requirements during preparation and service periods. Maintain an adequate flow of clean cookware and service equipment during peak operations. Respond promptly when urgent cleaning or sanitation support is required. Adjust priorities as restaurant, banquet, kitchen, and hotel operating demands change. Report defective dishwashing machines, kitchen equipment, plumbing issues, or other maintenance concerns immediately.

Keep storage locations orderly so utensils and equipment can be retrieved efficiently. Prevent unnecessary accumulation of dirty equipment in kitchen work areas. Handle hotel property carefully to minimize avoidable breakage and replacement costs. Maintain an organized stewarding work area and ensure equipment is returned to designated locations. Support colleagues during high-volume service periods and special operational

requirements. Follow personal hygiene, grooming, workplace safety, and food handling

requirements. Perform lifting, carrying, movement of equipment, and prolonged standing as required during normal duties. Work effectively across scheduled shifts, including periods of high guest occupancy and food service demand. Ideal ProfileCandidates should have previous experience as a Steward or in a comparable kitchen hygiene position within hospitality, restaurants, catering, or food service operations.

Exposure to a four-star or five-star hotel or upscale restaurant environment is particularly valuable. A practical understanding of HACCP, food safety, sanitation, and contamination prevention is required. Candidates familiar with industrial dishwashers and commercial kitchen machinery will be well suited to the operational demands of the position.

The role requires strong attention to cleanliness and organization together with the ability to prioritize several tasks during busy service periods. Reliability, discipline, responsiveness, and willingness to support colleagues are important attributes. Basic written and spoken English is required. Arabic, French, or other language capabilities relevant to Dubai 's international hospitality environment are advantageous.

Previous leadership exposure, food safety certification, or experience supporting hotel opening or pre-opening operations will provide additional value but is not essential.
