requirements and unexpected technical faults. The position is critical to keeping guest rooms, food and beverage facilities, kitchens, public areas, and back-of-house operations functional throughout the day. Because hotel engineering systems are interconnected, the technician must be comfortable working across air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical equipment, pumps, kitchen machinery, and general building services.
Fast diagnosis and dependable workmanship help reduce equipment downtime, control maintenance costs, and prevent technical problems from affecting the guest experience. Key ResponsibilitiesInspect hotel equipment, machinery, and engineering systems regularly to identify defects, abnormal operation, or early signs of failure. Diagnose technical faults and determine appropriate repair or maintenance action.
Complete preventive maintenance schedules across assigned equipment and systems. Service and maintain chillers, freezers, split air-conditioning units, air handling units, fan coil units, cold rooms, and refrigeration equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration systems to maintain dependable cooling performance. Carry out routine maintenance on hotel kitchen equipment and related mechanical systems.
Inspect, service, and maintain pumps used across hotel operations. Support preventive and corrective maintenance of air-conditioning systems throughout the property. Repair air handling units, fan coils, refrigerators, cold storage equipment, and other cooling systems as required. Respond quickly to emergency maintenance calls and restore affected equipment to service wherever possible.
Prioritize technical requests according to urgency, guest impact, safety risk, and operational importance. Complete work orders accurately and within expected service timelines. Use appropriate diagnostic instruments and test equipment to identify electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical faults. Assist with installation, setup, commissioning, and calibration of new equipment and systems.
Verify equipment performance after repair or installation before returning systems to operation. Maintain equipment logs, maintenance histories, repair records, and technical documentation. Record spare-part consumption and help maintain accurate inventory levels for frequently used maintenance materials. Report equipment requiring major repair, replacement, specialist intervention, or additional parts.
Follow safe working practices when using machinery, electrical tools, ladders, refrigerant systems, and mechanical equipment. Comply with hotel safety procedures and relevant technical or regulatory
requirements. Maintain tools and technical equipment in clean, safe, and serviceable condition. Keep engineering workshops and work areas orderly to support efficient maintenance operations. Coordinate with hotel departments when technical problems affect guest services or operational areas. Communicate repair status clearly to relevant colleagues and advise when equipment can be returned to normal operation.
Support junior technicians or apprentices by sharing practical technical knowledge where required. Assist other engineering disciplines when operational priorities require multi-skilled support. Take initiative when faults are identified and make practical maintenance decisions within assigned authority. Work effectively under changing priorities in a fast-paced hotel environment.
Perform physical maintenance activities involving standing, walking, lifting, carrying, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and climbing ladders or stairs when required. Ideal ProfileCandidates should have at least 2 years of experience in the same or a closely related general technician position, preferably within hotels, commercial buildings, facilities management, or another technically demanding property environment.
A strong working knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical systems is required. Candidates should be able to inspect, troubleshoot, service, and repair chillers, freezers, split units, air handling units, fan coils, cold rooms, refrigerators, pumps, and kitchen equipment. Practical understanding of preventive maintenance procedures and familiarity with diagnostic and testing equipment are important.
The role suits a technician with broad technical competence who can work independently while also contributing effectively to a multi-disciplinary engineering team. English communication skills are required for work orders, technical coordination, and interaction with hotel departments. Additional language capability is an advantage.
Candidates should be physically capable of performing active maintenance duties throughout a shift and comfortable working in equipment rooms, kitchens, plant areas, guest spaces, and elevated locations when necessary.
