ETA required

Israeli visitors need a UK ETA

ETA required for travel from 8 January 2025

Israel is on the UK ETA national list. El Al and BA from Tel Aviv will check for an approved ETA on an Israeli passport. The fee is £20 on GOV.UK. Dual Israeli–British citizens should travel on the British passport. An ETA is not a work visa and not a substitute for a spouse or student visa. Apply a few days before the flight. If your passport was recently reissued, apply on the new one; an old ETA on a cancelled passport is useless. Israel’s own inbound ETA-IL (when in force) is a separate product for people flying to Israel — it does not authorise UK travel.

Mistakes israeli visitors make

  • Third-party Hebrew/English sites that look official and charge extra.
  • Travelling on a different passport than the one in the ETA file.

London notes for Israeli arrivals

TLV flights often use Heathrow T5 or T1/T2 depending on airline. Piccadilly line is direct but slow; Elizabeth line is usually better into the West End with luggage.

FAQs

Do Israelis need a UK visa?
For a holiday, no — you need an ETA.
Does an ETA guarantee entry?
No. Border officers can still refuse entry. An ETA only lets you travel to the border.
