GDS Apply Online 2026 — OTR, Last Date & Photo

No CBT. Selection is Class 10 merit. Finish OTR by 19 Sep and the form+fee by 21 Sep 2026, 5:00 pm on indiapost.gov.in only.

Important dates

Who can apply

• 18–40 years as on 21 September 2026 (relaxations below)
• Class 10 from a recognised board with pass in Maths and English
• Local language of that circle studied up to Class 10
• Computer knowledge, cycling, and another source of livelihood (GDS Rules)

Fee

Pay within 10 minutes of the fee screen. Amount after 5 pm on 21 Sep is not counted and not refunded.

How to apply (do this in order)

1. 1

   Finish OTR first

   Register on the GDS portal by 19 September 2026, 5 pm. Save the registration number. You cannot apply without OTR.

2. 2

   Open Apply Online

   From 2 September, log in → Active Notification → Schedule-II → Apply Online. Personal fields copy from OTR.

3. 3

   Enter Class 10 exactly as the marksheet

   Board, year, Maths, English, local language. If the board prints percentage, enter percentage — not CGPA. The portal converts CGPA × 9.5 itself.

4. 4

   Pick ONE division, then rank Post IDs

   You may apply to several posts but only inside one postal division. Rank every Post ID you want. You will not be considered for a post you did not prefer. If you qualify for more than one, only the first preferred post is offered.

5. 5

   Upload photo and signature

   JPEG only. Photo 30–100 KB, 4:5 (about 320×400). Signature 20–100 KB, 5:2 (about 300×120). Preview must be sharp — blurred files are rejected. No marksheet upload at this stage.

6. 6

   Pay (if not exempt) and submit by 5:00 pm

   Fee window is 10 minutes. Payment after 21 September 5 pm is rejected and not refunded. Note the application number.

What to carry only if shortlisted

Nothing except photo/sign is uploaded now. DV is 15 days from shortlisting at the Divisional office.

• Class 10 marks sheet (original + 2 self-attested copies)
• Photo ID
• Date of birth proof
• Caste / EWS / PwBD / transgender certificate if claimed
• Medical certificate from a Government hospital / PHC (compulsory)
• Local / tribal language certificate if applying in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim or Goa

Forms that get rejected

• Blurred photo or miniature / typed signature
• OTR missing or apply started after 19 Sep without registration
• Fee pending at 5:00 pm on 21 Sep
• Percentage left blank when the board printed % (e.g. DBSE)
• Name / parents’ name not matching the Class 10 marksheet
• Applying in a circle whose local language you did not study up to Class 10
