Exam Pattern 2026
RBI Grade B is a three-phase nationwide exam. Phase I is a single 200-mark objective paper (2 hours). Phase II has objective + descriptive papers. Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer in objective sections.
- Phase I total: 200 questions, 200 marks, 120 minutes (sectional time limits apply)
- Negative marking: ¼ mark deducted per wrong answer in objective papers
- Sectional + aggregate minimum marks required to qualify Phase I
- Phase II: Paper I (ESI), Paper II (English descriptive), Paper III (Finance & Management) — General stream
- Interview carries 50 marks; shortlisted from Phase II aggregate only

- Phase I (Prelims) — 200-mark objective online test; qualifying in nature with sectional + aggregate cut-off
- Phase II (Mains) — Economics & Social Issues, English (descriptive), Finance & Management (General stream)
- Interview — 50 marks; final merit from Phase II aggregate + interview
