JSSC JCCE written exam has two OMR papers of 300 marks each (600 total). Paper 1 tests regional/tribal language knowledge and is qualifying — candidates need minimum 30% (90 marks). Paper 2 (Hindi, GK, Numerical Ability) determines merit. Each question carries 3 marks; 1 mark deducted per wrong answer.

  • Paper 2 — Hindi (50 Q) + GK (25 Q) + Numerical Ability (25 Q): 100 Q · 300 marks · 2 hours
  • +3 marks per correct answer · −1 mark per wrong answer on both papers
  • PET/PST and Medical are qualifying only — no marks added to written score
  • Candidates clearing PET are called for Medical at ~3× the vacancy count

Syllabus — Subject-wise Topics

Paper 1 — Regional / Tribal Language (Qualifying)

  • Knowledge of local/tribal language of Jharkhand — Santali, Mundari, Ho, Kurukh, Kharia, Nagpuri, Khortha, Panch Pargania, Kurmali, Bhumij or as notified
  • Reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary in the chosen regional language
  • Translation between Hindi and regional language
  • Minimum 30% (90 marks) required — marks not added to final merit

Paper 2 — Hindi Language (50 Questions, 150 Marks)

  • Hindi grammar — sandhi, samas, alankar, vyakaran
  • Synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitutions
  • Idioms (muhavare), proverbs (lokokti)
  • Reading comprehension and sentence correction
  • Fill in the blanks and error spotting

Paper 2 — General Knowledge (25 Questions, 75 Marks)

  • Jharkhand history, geography, tribal culture and current affairs
  • Indian history, polity, Constitution and national movement
  • General science — physics, chemistry, biology (Class 8–10 level)
  • Sports, awards, books, important days and national events
  • Economy, government schemes and environment

Paper 2 — Numerical Ability (25 Questions, 75 Marks)

  • Number system, simplification, HCF/LCM
  • Percentage, ratio, profit & loss, simple interest
  • Time & work, time-speed-distance, averages
  • Mensuration and basic geometry
  • Data interpretation and mental arithmetic

Selection Process

  1. Physical Standard Test (PST) — height & chest measurement (General: 160 cm / 81 cm chest; SC/ST: 155 cm / 79 cm; Female: 148 cm min)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Male: 10 km run within 60 min · Female: 5 km run within 30 min (qualifying, no marks)
  3. Medical Examination — fitness assessment; ~3× vacancies shortlisted from PET
  4. Written Examination — JCCE Paper 1 (Regional/Tribal Language, 300 marks, qualifying 30%) + Paper 2 (Hindi, GK, Numerical, 300 marks)
  5. Document Verification — original certificates, domicile, category proof
