The HP Police Constable written exam is a single OMR-based paper of 100 marks held after PMT and PET. HP-specific GK carries the highest weightage — roughly 40% of the paper.

HP GK & Current Affairs (High Priority)
- HP history — princely states, merger with India, statehood (1971)
- HP geography — 12 districts, Beas/Sutlej/Ravi rivers, passes, national parks
- HP government schemes — Him Ganga, Sahara Yojana, Mukhyamantri Swavlamban
- HP economy — horticulture, tourism, hydropower (SJVN, NHPC)
- HP administration — HP Police Act, current DGP, major police stations
- National & HP current affairs (last 12 months)
General Knowledge & Everyday Science
- Indian history, polity and Constitution basics
- Physics, chemistry, biology (Class 9–10 NCERT level)
- Environment, sports and national events
- Awards, books and important personalities
Hindi Language
- व्याकरण — संधि, समास, लिंग, वचन, कारक
- Comprehension and passage-based questions
- Fill in the blanks, antonyms/synonyms
- Error detection and sentence correction
Arithmetic & Mental Ability
- Number system, HCF/LCM, percentage, ratio
- Profit & loss, simple interest, averages
- Series, analogies, coding-decoding
- Blood relations and direction sense
Selection Process
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT) — height, weight, chest (qualifying)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — 1600 m run (male) / 800 m run (female), long jump, high jump (qualifying)
- Written Examination — 100 marks OMR-based objective paper (2 hours)
- Medical Examination — fitness assessment
- Document Verification — original certificates check
Preparation Tips
- Start daily running now — target 1600 m under 6:30 min (male) or 800 m under 4 min (female) for PET.
- Practise long jump (12 ft male / 9 ft female) and high jump at least 20 attempts per day.
- HP GK is ~40% of the written paper — revise HP history, districts, rivers and current schemes daily.
- Solve OMR-format mock tests with 0.25 negative marking to build speed and accuracy.
- Check hppsc.hp.gov.in and citizenportal.hppolice.gov.in regularly for admit card and date updates.
