Operation Switch Man

Education Background: Two (2) years Diploma in Engineering or equivalent Experience: 8 - years Experience Details Eight years of experience in power system construction, commissioning, maintenance and operation with emphasis on the operation of transmission and distribution systems and substation power apparatus Role Provide in-the-field work direction for complicated switching procedures and/or highly critical equipment loading and make planned shutdowns of portions of the system for maintenance, construction, and inspection.

In case of power system disturbances, use independent judgment to restore power or isolate parts of the electrical system which may endanger life or property. Maintain records of time and reasons for shutdowns, such as power outages, changes in equipment or operating procedures, repairs done, recommended changes or repairs to consider for next shutdown, and maintain a complete file for reference and further action.

Initiate inspection of electrical transmission and distribution equipment for proper operations and conditions using the ECS (Electrical Consol System). Analyze faulty operations, determine what is needed for repair, and make arrangements for the appropriate crews to be dispatched with all the correct materials on-hand required for complete, efficient, and expeditious repairs. Provide cable routes, identification of cables and proof of isolation, when necessary.

Define clearances and issue work permits using established procedures to authorized personnel; ensure that work permit receivers are aware of the limits of the work permit and will adhere to all applicable safety

requirements. Inspect for proper operation the street lighting circuits and equipment, make operating adjustments and recommend repairs as necessary. Read and record meter and watt hour meter readings throughout the power system to supply information for record maintenance including; balancing system load, electricity purchased from Marafeq and survey
