Parttime Accountant

Philippines. Location: RemoteType: Part-Time / ContractReports to: President ABOUT THE ROLEWe are seeking an experienced Part-Time Ecommerce Accountant who has deep expertise in QuickBooks and ecommerce accounting. This role will be responsible for cleaning up our existing books, making necessary adjusting journal entries, ensuring all integrations are working correctly, and managing our accounting on an ongoing basis.

Our business operates on Shopify and integrates with numerous third-party platforms through Webgility. We need someone who understands how ecommerce transactions flow from multiple systems into QuickBooks and can identify, troubleshoot, and resolve accounting discrepancies.

This person will become the owner of our financial records, ensuring accurate books, timely reconciliations, and reliable weekly financial reporting so management always has a clear picture of the business.

RESPONSIBILITIESReview and clean up existing QuickBooks records, including preparing and posting adjusting journal entriesMaintain accurate daily bookkeeping in QuickBooksManage accounting for Shopify sales, refunds, fees, taxes, shipping, inventory, and payment processorsMonitor and troubleshoot integrations between Shopify, QuickBooks, Webgility, and other third-party applicationsReconcile bank accounts, credit cards, payment processors, and merchant accountsReconcile Shopify payouts and sales activity to QuickBooksReview and reconcile inventory-related accounting entriesEnsure financial statements are accurate and prepared in accordance with GAAPPrepare weekly financial reports and key business metrics for managementIdentify discrepancies, investigate issues, and recommend accounting improvementsAssist with month-end and year-end close processesWork with outside CPA as needed for tax preparation and financial reportingMaintain organized accounting records and supporting documentationRecommend process improvements to increase automation and accounting accuracy REQUIREMENTS5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in ecommerceExpert-level knowledge of QuickBooks OnlineStrong understanding of journal entries, accrual accounting, and financial statement preparationExperience accounting for Shopify businessesExperience with Webgility or similar ecommerce accounting integration software preferredExperience reconciling payment processors such as Shopify Payments, PayPal, Stripe, Amazon, or similar platformsStrong knowledge of bank reconciliations and account reconciliationsAbility to identify accounting errors and independently resolve discrepanciesExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong Excel or Google Sheets skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent written and verbal communication skills WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEQuickBooks is accurate, organized, and fully reconciledHistorical accounting issues have been identified and correctedWeekly financial reports are delivered accurately and on timeShopify, Webgility, and all accounting integrations operate reliably with minimal exceptionsBank accounts, payment processors, and balance sheet accounts are consistently reconciledFinancial statements can be relied upon for business decision-makingAccounting processes become more efficient through improved systems and automationManagement has confidence in the company's financial reporting and cash flow visibility.
