CTET Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2026

CTET is mandatory for KVS, NVS and central school teaching posts. Per Prepp, each paper has 150 MCQs for 150 marks in 2.5 hours with +1 per correct and no negative marking. Qualifying: 60% (90 marks) for General, 55% for reserved.

Is CTET certificate valid for lifetime?
Yes — since the 2023 amendment, CTET certificates are valid for lifetime with no expiry.
Can I give both CTET Paper I and II?
Yes — candidates can appear for both papers. Paper I is for primary (Class 1–5) and Paper II for upper primary (Class 6–8).
