Copy the “age as on …” date from the official PDF.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your date of birth exactly as it appears on your supporting documents.
  2. Enter the cut-off date quoted in the vacancy PDF (for example “age as on 01 January 2026”).
  3. Tap Calculate Sarkari Age.
  4. Read the years, months, and days breakdown, then cross-check the simplified eligibility table — always defer to the official notice for category relaxations.

What “age as on [date]” means

Notices such as “candidates must be between 18 and 27 years as on 01 August 2026” refer to your age on that calendar date — not today's date when you read the advertisement.

If you are 17 today but turn 18 before the cut-off date, you may qualify. If you are inside the bracket today but cross the maximum on the cut-off date, you will not. This tool mirrors that reckoning.

Leap years and month-end adjustments

Subtracting birth year from the calendar year is not sufficient: month borrowing is required when the cut-off day-of-month occurs before the birthday day-of-month.

Example — date of birth 31 August 1999, cut-off 1 August 2026: naive subtraction suggests 27 years, whereas the precise gap is 26 years, 11 months, and 1 day because August 31 has not occurred yet in 2026 relative to the cut-off instant.

The implementation mirrors the calendar-step approach exam boards describe: borrow months or years when intermediate totals go negative, and rely on the JavaScript Date object so leap-day boundaries stay consistent.

SSC, UPSC, RRB — typical limits (2026 cycles)

SSC CGL commonly caps General-category candidates at 32 years on the stated cut-off date, with +3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) and +5 years for SC/ST where the PDF allows it.

UPSC Civil Services uses similar ceilings but adds attempt limits for General candidates; OBC and SC/ST relaxations are spelled out in the annual Rules of Examination.

RRB NTPC notifications frequently cite 33 years for General applicants before relaxations. Railway forms are difficult to amend after submission — validate age before you pay fees.

Persons with benchmark disabilities often receive up to ten additional years, yet each recruitment publishes bespoke clauses — read the PDF each time.

The comparison table highlights General-category ranges only. Add your lawful relaxation manually after confirming reservation claims on the official portal.

After you confirm eligibility, model post-tax income with our Income Tax Calculator to compare the old and new regimes.
