Software Engineer – Camera Software (C/C++, Python) | Local in Leuven

For our client, an innovative international high-tech company developing advanced camera technology, we are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to strengthen a small and highly technical software team in Leuven. You will help develop and maintain the software ecosystem around advanced camera products: from graphical tools used to configure and operate cameras, to SDK and library components that enable customers to integrate the technology into their own applications.

This is a hands-on product-software role for someone who enjoys working with established native codebases, solving real integration issues and making complex technology easy for other engineers to use.

Your responsibilitiesDevelop, maintain and improve native camera software in C/C++ and PythonWork on both graphical software tools and SDK/library components for customer integrationEnsure reliable software behaviour across Windows and Linux environmentsInvestigate, debug and resolve complex issues across software, cameras and customer use casesImprove maintainability, testability and performance in an existing product codebaseCollaborate closely with R&D, application engineers and technical-support teamsContribute to releases, technical documentation and software-quality improvementsYour profileMaster's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related technical disciplineAt least 5 years of professional software-development experience; ideally 7+ years with a stable track recordStrong hands-on experience in C or C++, ideally complemented by PythonExperience developing native software for both Windows and LinuxYou enjoy debugging, maintaining and improving product software used by real customersClear communication skills and professional EnglishWhat this role is notThis is not a pure web-development, database or Microsoft-framework role, nor a microcontroller/FPGA firmware position.

The core of the role is native C/C++ product software: making advanced camera technology reliable and straightforward for other developers to use.
