Humanities Teacher (History or Geography) - August 2026 GEMS Al Barsha National School is seeking an outstanding and passionate Humanities Teacher (Geography) to join our dedicated team in August 2026. We are looking for a talented educator who can inspire curiosity about the world, develop critical and analytical thinking, and contribute to the continued success of our Humanities department. As a Humanities Teacher at GEMS Al Barsha National School, you will deliver engaging and challenging lessons that bring History and/or Geography to life.
You will support students in developing strong enquiry, evaluation, and research skills, encouraging them to understand both local and global perspectives. Beyond the classroom, you will play an active role in the wider school community, contributing to co‑curricular activities, school events, and ongoing curriculum development.
Key
Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver high‑quality Humanities lessons that inspire and engage students across a range of abilities. Foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of historical and geographical concepts through purposeful learning experiences. Assess, record, and report on student progress, using data to inform planning and differentiation.
Maintain an inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners and promotes academic excellence. Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative schemes of work and share best practice. Communicate effectively with parents to provide regular updates on student progress and achievement. Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and co‑curricular activities.
Uphold GEMS Education’s Core Values and the ethos of Al Barsha National School at all times. Contribute to the wider life of the school through events, enrichment opportunities, and educational visits.
Qualifications & Knowledge: Bachelor’s Degree in History, Geography, or a closely related Humanities subject, plus a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent). Strong subject knowledge in History and/or Geography. Confident use of ICT and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning. Skills & Attributes: A skilled and enthusiastic classroom practitioner with a passion for Humanities and high expectations for student achievement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. A reflective and adaptable educator who thrives in a collaborative environment. A commitment to continuous professional development and whole‑school improvement. Experience: A minimum of two years’ teaching experience, ideally within the National Curriculum for England.
Experience working in an international or culturally diverse setting is an advantage.
